Did you know that 1 in 5 Americans live with a mental health condition? Mental health affects everyone.

In October we turn our attention to our emotional well-being as we acknowledge World Mental Health Day, Mental Illness Awareness Week and National Depression Screening Day. If you are not feeling your best, you are not alone.

Our emotional well-being impacts every part of our lives. Whether it is lack of focus or energy for daily tasks, the inability to solve problems, or manage relationships, it is important to practice self-care so we know when it’s time to seek help.

Jess DeMarte, Respicardia’s Quality and Regulatory Affairs Senior Manager (and certified life coach!), is Alyson’s guest on the October Spotlight. She shares tips to develop and maintain a healthy work/life balance so you can show up as your best self each day. Learn how to manage your time, energy, and focus to avoid burnout.

Detection Saves Lives

October is also Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The statistics speak for themselves:

  • 1 in 8 women in the United States are going to develop breast cancer in their lifetime.
  • Breast cancer is the second leading cause of death from cancer in American women, with age being the highest risk factor for women over 50.

Practicing self-care helps you to stay vigilant! Get an annual mammogram as part of your preventive screenings and conduct self-exams. Take control of your health, review these women’s health tips, and if you have any issues or concerns, talk with your doctor right away – don’t delay.
